About the Program
Engineering involves a wide range of technical activities, and effective communication is essential to ensure that information is conveyed clearly and accurately. In engineering, there is no room for ambiguity because mistakes can affect quality, cost, time, and overall profitability.
This program helps students understand the importance of technical communication, engineering reporting, visual communication methods, verbal presentation, and the role of information communication technology in engineering settings.
The Advanced Diploma in Marine Engineering combines academic studies, international exposure, and professional development to prepare cadets for engineering responsibilities in the maritime sector.
Program Phases
The Advanced Diploma Marine Engineering program is structured in three professional phases that combine academic learning, international study, and practical sea service.
Phase 1
12 months of skill-based academic studies at Maritime Training Institute, Karachi, which serves as an outreach campus. MTI Karachi facilitates student visa processing for successful cadets upon completion of Phase 1.
Phase 2
12 months of study at City of Glasgow College of Nautical Studies, United Kingdom, where cadets continue their academic and professional development in marine engineering.
Phase 3
Engine cadets are required to complete 09 months of sea service before appearing in the EOOW Certificate examination conducted by MCA (Maritime Coastguard Agency), UK. MTI Karachi endeavors to arrange sea berth for successful cadets after Phase 2.
Program Advantages
After successful completion of the Advanced Diploma, cadets become eligible for exemptions from all subjects of Class 4 (Engine) Certificate of Competency Examination, except Engineering and Control Systems.
International Learning Pathway
Students benefit from a combination of local academic preparation and advanced study at a recognized college in the UK.
Professional Certification Route
The program prepares cadets for sea service and progression toward the EOOW certificate examination conducted by MCA UK.
